Players honor Coach Walker for her 300th career victory!
Park View's 3-0 victory over Loundoun County was Coach Walker's
300th victory in
25 years of coaching. The players were all set to celebrate if they could
win over
Loudoun County.
The game was a close one with the tough, Park View offense
held to three runs by the
pitching of Jessica Marr for County. Park View scored one run in the 1st inning
when
leadoff batter Kristen Miller bunted for a single and then stole 2nd base.
Jennifer
Forsythe, batting 2nd hit a drive into left-center for a single and then she
stole 2nd.
Karie Morrison hit a sacrifice fly to get an RBI when Kristin scored the 1st
run
Megan Smith, batting cleanup, smacked a long drive into left field, almost
to the fence,
for a double but was left stranded on base.
Park View didn't score again until the sixth inning when
both Karie and Megan drew
walks. An error on County's shortstop put Veronica Skinner on 1st base. Caitlin
Trask
then hit a fielders choice, driving in a run. Ashley Shifflett got the next
RBI when she
hit a grounder to the shortstop and was thrown out at first.
The winning pitcher was Karie Morrison with 12 strikeouts in 7 innings.
